Our mission at Bush Kiddz is to “Encourage and inspire more parents to spend more time enjoying the great outdoors with their kids”
By building a community with Bush Kiddz we wish to share ideas, resources and knowledge that will build confidence in parents and kids alike to venture into the outdoors be it woodland, grass land, coast land, mountains, parks or just the garden. We wish to increase competence in some key basic bushcraft skills for parents and kids that will allow them to be safe in the outdoors, have fun and appreciate their surroundings. Lastly we wish to draw attention to how being outdoors can help take care of physical, and emotional wellbeing as well as better prepare kids for the future.
Bush Kids came to life in May 2020.
Welcome to Bush Kiddz, My name is Tim Gee and I started the Bush Kiddz community in May 2020. "Forever the Boy Scout" I wanted to help parents and children alike to find inspiration to get outdoors and enjoy a range of activities.
"Forever the Boy Scout" Tim Gee was raised in a Midlands mining community and was always outdoors as a child exploring the local woods, fields and agricultural land. An active member of the scouting association at a young age created a sense of adventure and curiosity in later life. Tim has travelled extensively across the UK and around the World and has been involved in many adventurous activities. Living and working in Australia teaching Scuba Diving on the Great Barrier Reef, also travelling through South East Asia in 1996-97. Returning to do a round the world trip over 12 months in 2000/2001 and over 12 countries including trekking through the Himalayas, Andes and Amazon, driving the entire west coast of Australia to mention a few things. Also traversed almost all of the Pyrenees Haute Route (HRP) and many of the highest mountains across the UK.
Whilst working in information technology for over 30 years including Microsoft and Apple, Tim never lost connection with the outdoors and started to hone his outdoor skills through qualified courses in his free time from 2017 taking advantage of the experience previously gained. Tim is also a volunteer coach and mentor for sports and outdoors in his local community.
Tim created Bush Kiddz in May 2020 to inspire Parents and Children alike to get outdoors with confidence, competence and care using bushcraft, wilderness and survival skills. Supported by a number of volunteer ambassadors the Bush Kiddz message and associated free resources have been broadcast far and wide.
From October 2022 Bush Kiddz looks to evolve again with a programme of bushcraft activity aligned services that can be delivered directly by Tim and a qualified instruction team.
