20 years of working in the outdoor industry has taken me on expeditions all over the developing world. As I matured, as did my teaching, being more dedicated to rambling, rock and river I took up a managerial post in the Midlands. This allowed me to to have a fixed base to operate from, developing myself and the staff I work with. As the years have progressed my outdoors focus has been on what can be achieved in the outdoors environment we find ourselves in daily, which lead me into my love for "bushcraft". My aim is to be truly comfortable in my natural surroundings, regardless of location, season or environment. 

Des is a popular producer of bushcraft and outdoor content on many social media channels under the alias “Des Cattys”. After many years in the British military Des has worked as a summer mountain leader as well as supporting young adults in programmes and groups such as the Army Cadet Force, Duke of Edinburgh scheme and the Princes Trust. Des is most at home in the outdoors honing and learning new skills whilst at the same time sharing these experiences with his many followers.

I have always loved being in the outdoors from an early age. It started with the Scout Movement at age 8. Through scouting I learned to camp, the basics of bushcraft, and to feel at home in the woods and wild spaces of the UK. It eventually led to working overseas teaching these skills to American Scouts.

Over the years I have honed my skills, now passing them on to others, along with a passion for nature and our environment.

I am currently studying to gain my Level 3 Forest School Leadership award, and work with children at an outdoor school on Dartmoor.

It is an honour to be a Bushkiddz ambassador and hope that what we do inspires others to enjoy all that the wilderness has to offer.

Luke is a qualified Youth Worker, Counsellor and Forest School Leader. He has worked with children,young people and their families for 15+ years. Luke believes that time outdoors is some of the best therapy people can have and the natural world provides amazing opportunities for growth and development. Luke currently offers bushcraft, forest school and outdoor education opportunities as part of the wellbeing work he engages in.

My love for nature and the outdoors started at an early age. Most Scandinavians are taught as children to enjoy and strive to be in the woods as much as possible.  This love for the outdoors is something I am now trying to pass on to my own kids. My philosophy for the outdoors is that every one, regardless of age or gender, has the abilities to enjoy what nature has to offer. I started out on instagram just to have some sort of diary of my outdoor activities with my boys. I will keep showing our successes and failures since there are things to be learnt for everyone. Mel escaped from indoor teaching in 2016 and now runs her own outdoor learning and bushcraft business, Wildly Curious, working mainly with children and families. She is a Professional In Outdoor Learning, a member of BushScout, a member of the IOL Bushcraft Professional Practice Group committee and an Archery GB Instructor. She is excited to be part of the force for good which is Bush Kiddz, encouraging families and young people into the great outdoors. She is usually to be found outside, sometimes cooking over fires, sometimes crafting things from natural materials, and often with leaves in her hair and smelling of woodsmoke....

Lisa is our Scottish Ambassador!
She has always enjoyed being outdoors from a very young age. She became an instructor in both the Army Cadet Force and Sea Cadet Corps and this is where her love of the outdoors was allowed to flourish!
Going on to become a qualified outdoor instructor, she has worked with many adults and young people through the years with a specific passion for getting those with additional support needs ‘oot and aboot’.
She is excited to become a part of the BushKiddz family and to help to encourage and share the outdoors with everyone regardless of background!
Lisa has recently set up Paddle’n’Flint in beautiful Perthshire in Scotland, with an aim to bring the benefits of the outdoors more locally for families.

I’m just an ordinary father of 2.

Just a few years ago I rediscovered my love of the outdoors. As a child, I grew up playing outside, making dens, walking in the woods, and climbing The Wrekin. I now have a family that have grown to love the outdoors too.We’re not the most adventurous, but we like a good walk in the woods, and a bit of camping - both on sites and wild camping. Getting outdoors and enjoying this wonderful world with your children is easy. Just throw on some old clothes, sturdy footwear, and weather appropriate top layers, and go and explore!

Gareth is from the world of corporate life in a global Telecommunications organisation. Outdoors is a hobby that has been a big part of his life since he was down the fields in the summer holidays making Dens.

His aim is to learn lots about nature, our environment and practise Bushcraft skills wherever and whenever he is able... most importantly, he’s keen to share this knowledge with others to enjoy.
